What the total tells you

The monthly number is useful for budgeting. The yearly number is better for comparing a subscription with an annual plan or another expense. The 10-year number shows what would happen if today's price continued for 120 months.

A $9.99 monthly plan comes to $119.88 in one year and $1,198.80 over 10 years. The arithmetic is simple. The useful part is putting every small charge in the same list.

Use the price you really pay

Open the latest receipt or account page and enter the amount charged each month. For an annual plan, divide the annual price by 12 before adding it. Leave out a service you already cancelled unless you are still inside a paid period and want to compare it.

Choose what to review first

If a charge already happened, use the refund helper to organize the receipt, account region, usage, and merchant policy before contacting support.
