How to Cancel YouTube Premium and Check Who Bills You (2026)

The important first step is finding the company that took the payment. A YouTube-billed membership can be cancelled on the paid memberships page. Apple and Google Play purchases stay under the app-store account that processed the charge.

Official account or cancellation path YouTube Premium

Open the paid memberships page

Sign in to the Google account that pays for Premium and open youtube.com/paid_memberships. Check the membership details for the plan, renewal date, and billing provider.

If no paid membership appears, check another Google account and the receipt email before contacting support. The account watching videos may not be the account paying the bill.

Cancel a membership billed by YouTube

Choose Manage membership, then Deactivate. Select Continue to cancel, choose a reason, select Next, and finish with Yes, cancel.

A paid membership normally keeps its benefits until the end of the current billing period. The displayed end date is the date worth saving.

Use the app store when it handled the payment

For an Apple-billed membership, manage the subscription in Apple Subscriptions. For a Google Play-billed membership, use the subscriptions area of the matching Google Play account.

The merchant name on the receipt tells you who can change the subscription and who decides a refund request.

Keep the cancellation proof

Check for the cancellation notification in YouTube and the confirmation email. Save the end date and make sure the membership page no longer shows a future renewal.

If the page still shows an active renewal, repeat the process in the billing account shown on the receipt.

A refund may be available for a billing problem or when the paid service did not work as expected, subject to YouTube's policy. Apple decides refunds for Apple-billed purchases. Annual memberships do not receive a partial refund simply because they were cancelled early.

Cancelling Premium ends the paid benefits. It does not delete the Google account, channel, subscriptions, or playlists attached to that account.
When will ads return?
For a normal paid cancellation, Premium remains active through the date shown on the membership page. The free YouTube experience resumes after that date.
Can I get a YouTube Premium refund?
Refund handling depends on the billing provider and the reason for the request. YouTube directs Apple purchases to Apple. For a YouTube-billed active membership, sign in on YouTube's refund page to see the available request route. Approval follows the provider's refund policy.
Why can I not find the membership I am being charged for?
The usual cause is a different Google or Apple account. Match the receipt email, merchant name, and account address before opening a support case.
